Q & A
How much does a session cost?
A single session starts at $200, but please contact us to go over all pricing options.
How do I book a session?
If you’re viewing the site on a mobile device, you’ll find the book your shoot button in the menu. On desktop, this button is on the upper right hand corner of the screen. From there, you’ll be taken to the booking screen which will include a form that you’ll be asked to fill out. In addition to being able to select your package, the form will give me your contact information and key information about your needs. Once you decide to book with me, you will need to sign the model release form before the session starts.
Do I have to put down a deposit?
No deposit is necessary at the time of booking. However, a 10% deposit is due 5 days before the shoot. The remaining balance is due on the day of the shoot.
I don’t see an e-commerce section here. How do I pay?
In general, I accept credit cards though PayPal. I also use Venmo and Zelle, but alternate payment methods can be discussed.
What if I have to cancel the shoot?
I totally understand that things come up in life! If you have to cancel the shoot, I ask that you do it no less than 48 hours beforehand. At times I have to turn down requests because I am already booked. And last minute cancelations can cause a bit of chaos. So, if you cancel less than 48 hours prior to the shoot, your 10% deposit may be forfeited.
What if the weather turns bad on the day of the shoot?
Since I shoot in natural settings using available light, weather can be a really important factor - even if we’re shooting inside! If bad weather threatens to negatively affect the shoot, we can absolutely reschedule for a better day.
Can I have all of the unedited photos from the shoot?
Unfortunately, no. I only release photos that I feel are the best representation of you, your pet(s) and my work. And honestly, some shots are just duds (out of focus, duplicates, etc). But don’t worry, I’ll always deliver the number of photos that we’ve agreed upon and they’ll be fantastic.
Do you retouch the photos?
Yes. Every photo that is delivered to you will be retouched.
Do you only shoot “candids” ?
Well, yes,... and no. I currently don’t shoot in a studio, which means that all of my photos are taken in natural settings. I love capturing pets just being themselves: playing, sleeping running, etc. I feel this is the best way to capture their unique personalities. But I am almost always able to capture a “portrait-like” pose that rivals the studio shots! Have a look at my gallery and you will see what I mean.
Can I suggest locations to photograph my pet?
Yes! You can totally suggest the location for your shoot. The planning phase should be a collaborative process where we toss ideas back and forth and decide what works best for you. I’ll always do my best to make sure you and your pet(s) are happy and comfortable with where we’re shooting.
How many locations are included in the shoot?
The number of locations varies by option tier. For example, option 1 is limited to one location. Option 2 has a limit of two locations. And Option 3 has a limit of three locations. If you’d like to add another location to a package, we can negotiate that for an additional fee.
My dog/cat can be a bit “temperamental” with strangers. Will this be a problem?
I hope not! But if that’s the case, I would suggest a “temperature check” before the shoot to see how comfortable your pet is with me. Although I’m no Caesar Milan, I always try to bring a gentle, calming vibe to the environment because I’m very aware of how different energies affect animals. That said, I will do my best to help respect your pet’s comfort level and ease any apprehensions that they might have!
Will it cost more if we surpass the time listed on the packages?
No, the times listed on the packages are general outlines. I will always be respectful of your time, however, and we can aim for hard deadlines if you need one. Not all dogs are eager to have their photos taken at first, so a bit of extra warm up time might be necessary.
Can I post my photos to social media?
Of course! You are free to post photos to social media. Photo credits aren’t mandatory but they certainly are appreciated!
Where are you located? How far will you travel?
I’m located in Brooklyn, New York and generally book shoots throughout the tri-state area. I’m open to traveling, however, locations outside of an hour radius will incur an additional fee.
Do I own the copyright to the photos that I purchased?
The short answer is no. According to US law, in general, when the shutter is released, the photographer who pressed the button owns the copyright. An exception is when the image falls into the “work for hire” category, for example, photographer working for a newspaper.
